Programs & Services
Together we can work as a team to help your child set and achieve their greatest goals. A life coach can help your child achieve their goals in any area of life. However, we specialize in giving chidren and teens the skills that they do not learn in school. Below are the core areas of focus:
Girls Circle talk groups
The Girls Circle groups are a model of structured talk groups for girls ages 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Groups are formed by age in order to keep the topics age appropriate.
Girls Circle groups encourage girls to......
- Enhance judgement and critical thinking skills
- Maintain authentic connections with peers and adults
- Voice their ideas and opinions in a safe environment
- Make wise and healthy choices/decisions
- Counter trends toward self doubt
- Broaden their definitions of beauty and womanhood
Studies show that teens listen more to their peers than to adults. Give your teen/pre-teen a safe and fun place to share and bond with other teens! Groups starting January 2010 and consist of 6-10 girls. Groups are available at two possible locations: Dynamic Life Skills office in Stamford and the Wilton YMCA. We are having FREE sample groups in January! Call today for more information! (203) 461-8833!
Study and Organizational Skills
Get your child organized in his/her daily life. A coach will work with your child one on one to organize his/her notebook, backpack, home area, etc. Together we will come up with an organized routine for homework and studying that will maximize comfort and time set aside for school work. We will also find his/her learning style and the appropriate study skills that will achieve greatest memorization and recall of content knowledge. Some examples of what we could work on with your child are:
- test taking strategies
- study strategies for different types of learners
- establishing a homework routine
- note taking tips
- planning ahead by using a calendar and daily "to-do" lists
Social Skills and Self Esteem
Your child will learn social and relationship building skills. Some topics include:
- Making and maintaining friendships
- Verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and cues
- Proper social and conversational etiquette
- Proper sharing and play techniques
- Who Am I? - A guide to your child's interests, desires and hidden talents which will help boost self esteem once discovered
Our most common form of social skills coaching is through our:
social skills groups - We currently have groups for elementary school aged children. The groups may be the best way to learn proper social etiquette and friendship skills, because your child will be interacting with children of similar age.
Monitored playdates- for elementary school children. This provides a structured play date and a coach to help your child be a great friend by sharing and respecting their peers.
